Here's a throwback to the best of AD Design Show 2018

Last year the AD Design Show made an impressive debut at Dome @ NSCI, SVP Stadium in Worli. The three day luxury art and design fair hosted the best in art, design, craftsmanship, furniture, accessories, lighting, décor, and more. And, top interior design labels aside, the Show also hosted three exceptional events—Asian Paints Power Talks, Power to the Karigar supported by JSW, and a specially-curated Laura Hamilton Apartment. 10 art galleries and over 50 exhibitors from India and around the world came together with Art Rises from Kerala (ARK), an initiative of the Kochi Biennale Foundation, concluding the show.

Asian Paints Power Talks

The Asian Paints Power Talks's opened with a keynote by Pritzker Prize winner BV Doshi, followed by sessions with Nozer Wadia and Ashiesh Shah in conversation with Gayatri Rangachari Shah. The lineup also featured Sandeep Khosla, Sanjeev Panjabi and Niels Schoenfelder discussing tropical modernism; Sabyasachi Mukherjee in conversation with Greg Foster; Gauri Khan and Seetu Kohli in conversation with Anaita Shroff Adajania; and Channa Daswatte's talk on Sri Lanka and Geoffrey Bawa.

Day 2 of the Asian Paints Power Talks featured Shalini Passi and Roshini Vadehra in conversation with Farah Siddiqui; Tarun Tahiliani and Gaurav Bhatia sharing their insights on the life and times of aesthete Laura Hamilton; Gayatri Rangachari Shah in conversation with Anupam Poddar and Rajiv Saini and Paul Mathieu in conversation with AD France editor Marie Kalt.

Day 3 of the Asian Paints Power Talks began with a discussion over intersection of art and design between V Sunil and Thukral & Tagra followed by a session with Preciosa's Michael Vasku, the Power to the Karigar session featuring Maximiliano Modesti, Samuel Barclay, Bhairavi Naik, Parth Seth, Dhanya Kolathur, Anavila Misra, all in conversation with Malika Verma Kashyap and ended with a discussion between Bijoy Jain and Shireen Gandhy about the journey from architecture to art.

Power to the Karigar

The Power to the Karigar initiative supported by JSW featured craftspersons showcasing their magic with textile, wood and ceramics. The initiative at the AD Design Show 2018 marked the foundation for the JSW Prize for Contemporary Craftsmanship which was announced by the chairperson, Sangita Jindal. The showcase featured works by Maximiliano Modesti, Rehwa x Anavila, Case Goods x Vishwakarma Furniture, Curators of Clay, ITOH and Frozen Music.

Laura Hamilton Apartment

At the AD Design Show 2018, visitors got the opportunity to walk through a recreation of the gorgeous apartment of the woman behind the iconic interior design studio, Malabar at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. AD created a contemporary interpretation of Laura Hamilton's Mumbai home.
