Taiwanese design Studio Yuhsien introduced a new series of amorphous glass vessels designed to look like bubbles, that can be placed on top of vases. The transparent “caps” resemble soap bubbles, and are made using blown glass. In fact, their poetic shape almost makes you feel that the designs are frozen in time.
Travel Inspiration
The founder of the studio, Lin Yuyusen, was inspired by a traditional sakura raindrop cake called mochi during his trip to Japan. Usually this dessert is prepared with tender rice dough, and also comprises flowers and more importantly cherry blossoms that are suspended inside domes of jelly made of water and agar. The entire dish resembles a raindrop.
Made With Care
These domes were hand-blown in his studio in Taiwan. Despite the visual fragility, the pieces are quite durable. The “dome” protects the flowers from external influences, while an air cushion forms between the vase and the vessel, which provides the plants with sufficient amount of oxygen. This is a new form of floral art, and of caring for a plant and even establishing a relationship between people and their greenery.
