ADDS x Vincent Van Duysen: Embrace ‘Luxe Minimalism’ at the AD Design Show 2018

The Belgian architect will launch his monograph exclusively at the country's premier art and design showcase in Mumbai

曾经有一段时间,几乎四分之一个世纪o, when Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen was referred to as a ‘rising star' in the world of architecture and design. Known for his minimal palette, use of wood and concrete, and designing spaces bathed in light, the ‘minimalist' has come a long way and is now a bright constellation in his own distinctly created galaxy. At the inaugural AD Design Show 2018, a three-day uber-luxe experience showcasing art and design, Van Duysen will lead a series of conversations that begin with his design journey from Antwerp to Italy, and culminate with the release his new monograph, to be exclusively launched at the showcase in Mumbai.

Monograph: A Decade of Vincent Van Duysen

In his upcoming monograph by Thames & Hudson, Van Duysen sheds light on projects he helmed in the last decade, with images beautifully captured by architectural photography experts Hélène Binet and François Halard. The AD Design Show will serve as the ideal backdrop to delve into the mind of the zen genius, whose aesthetic lies at the intersection of architecture, interior design and art, with influences ranging from his own domestic Antwerp to the vibrant, colourful styles of Italy.

Over the last couple of years, Van Duysen has broadened his ever expanding oeuvre by lending his sensibilities to furniture, kitchen and kitchenware, lighting design, and even a luxury yacht! His pared down sensibility, infused with a Mediterranean aesthetic, is what prompted Italian design giant Molteni Group to appoint Van Duysen as creative director of its Molteni&C and Dada brands in 2017.

Luxe Minimalism

Attendees at the AD Design Show will get the opportunity to engage with Van Duysen over the course of three days, gaining insights into how our homes can be synonymous with ‘Luxe Minimalism', as his style has come to be known. “I am truly honoured to contribute to this exchange of passion for architecture, design and craftsmanship,” he says. “I am also looking forward to inspire people through my work, and get inspired by the magical culture of India,” says Van Duysen, who has previously won the Design of the Year prize at Belgium's Biennale Interieur in 2017, as well as the Flemish Culture Award for Design 2015.

Premier Art and Design Exhibition

The AD Design Show will see the participation of contemporary art galleries and international design brands. The premier event will showcase works curated by AD India across 5 exclusive categories: furniture, art, antiques, accessories, and lighting. It's the best of both worlds, under one expansive roof. Beyond the exclusive art and design showcase, the three-day luxury showcase will also feature several curated programmes for attendees: power talks; masterclasses and workshops; a live craftsmanship demonstration zone; delectable food; and a world-class exhibition experience at the stunning Dome@NSCI, SVP Stadium, Worli.
